The German EU Council Presidency has faced high expectations from the very beginning: to lead Europe out of the crisis and to set a determined course for the future. This includes managing the pandemic and its consequences, negotiating the future relationship with the UK and agreeing on the multiannual financial framework, including the ambitious recovery fund. The difficult tasks at hand continue to represent extraordinary challenges for the EU.
With one month to go until the end of the EU Council Presidency, now is the time to take stock of and to assess the achievements and new initiatives under Germany’s leadership.
Together with our international guests, we will take a closer look at the current state of European affairs and discuss the EU’s future course of action beyond the German Presidency. The discussion will touch on urgent issues that need to be addressed such as rule of law and civil rights, Europe’s sovereignty and solidarity, transatlantic relations, the economy and digitalisation, climate policy or investment in education and research.
We cordially invite you to join this discussion on the future of the European Union. This event is jointly coordinated by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the Parliamentary Group of the Free Democrats in the German Bundestag.
This online event will be held in English. Translation will be offered in German. If you have any questions in advance for the discussion, please do not hesitate to send them to anmeldungen@fdpbt.de.
We hope you will be able to join us and are looking forward to a lively and fruitful discussion.
